Keep wine tasting notes and build your personal taste profile

A tasting note is more than a memory. Every note in Wijnfeld feeds your personal taste profile: which regions, producers and grapes you rate highly and how you feel about body, acidity, tannin, oak and sweetness. That lets Wijnfeld give an expected personal score for a new wine and answer honestly whether a bottle is likely to suit you.

How to record a tasting note

Open the wine, pick the vintage and enter a score from 1 to 10, the tasting date and optionally the dish and occasion. For more depth, rate body, acidity, tannin, oak and sweetness from 1 to 10. A free-text note is always welcome. Your tasting history is kept even after the last bottle is gone.

From notes to taste profile

Wijnfeld calculates your profile deterministically from your own notes, outside the language model: average score, favourite regions, producers and grapes, and averages per characteristic. That makes it reproducible and explainable. The profile contains only your data.

Expected personal score

For a wine Wijnfeld can give an expectation: “expected match 8.7 out of 10, confidence 72%”. The signals are the same producer, the same region, overlapping grapes and a similar style. With fewer than three relevant tasting notes Wijnfeld deliberately shows no false precision.

No tasting history yet? Start with taste onboarding

If you have no notes yet, enter your preferences in a minute: body, acidity, tannin, oak, sweetness and favourite regions and grapes. Real tasting notes then refine the profile automatically.

Buying advice based on your taste

Standing in the shop? Ask on WhatsApp: “Barolo X 2021 for 42 euros, should I buy it?” The sommelier weighs your taste profile and current stock and gives a personal expectation with confidence, not an objective quality verdict.

Frequently asked questions

How many tasting notes do I need for a useful taste profile?

From three relevant tasting notes Wijnfeld gives a personal score; the more representative notes, the higher the confidence. Taste onboarding lets you start earlier.

Can I share tasting notes?

No, tasting notes are private and visible only to you. They are used solely for your own taste profile and advice.

Which characteristics can I score?

Body, acidity, tannin, oak and sweetness, each from 1 to 10, alongside an overall score, dish, occasion and a free-text note.
